Fresh spring fabrics

I am loving Calico Corners new spring fabric collections.  They're fresh and lovely, and would be such a great addition to any space in your home.  Here are just a few of my favorites.

Sinking in

I've been daydreaming about vintage-style utility sinks.

 There's something about that classic fifties look.  It takes me right back to the days of Ward and June Cleaver, and Father Knows Best.  These sinks truly are timeless.

A more contemporary look with the sink surrounded in marble.  And what about that penny tile to the ceiling?  Wow!

I love simplicity of this bathroom.  The addition of a little bit of pattern keeps it lively and fresh.

And what's not to love about this sink in a kids bath? 

Especially with the vibrant splash of color on the underbelly.

The perfect cabin bath.  And those two could be my boys.  Seriously.

Kohler's Brockway wash laundry sink is the perfect reproduction.  You can pick one of these beauties up for $1,600.  Yep, it's pricey alright.


I think that I am going to need one in my next home.  Maybe I'll be lucky enough to find one at a salvage yard one of these days.  What do you all think?

It's spring break

Last week was spring break, which meant the kiddos were out of school.  I enjoyed having them home, and spending some much needed one on one time with them.  We spent the mornings snuggling in bed...... 

making blueberry donuts...

setting up a small armies of art defenders...

riding bikes...

organizing angry bird battles....

and reading the classics.

I believe that one key element to a well-styled space are books.  Lots and lots of books.   They add visual depth, character, and a sense of history to a room.  I love shopping for vintage books at flea markets,  and thrift stores.  Their weathered pages, and faded dust jackets always make me wonder where that book has traveled, who it belonged to, and what their life was like.  Oh, if only books could talk.

I love this book by Damian Thompson.  I think it illustrates the story of styling a room with books perfectly.  It's pages are filled with inspiring book filled spaces that feel inviting, warm, and well traveled.  I highly recommend picking up a copy.
