Make a wish

Hans Wegner is one of those brilliant designers that only comes along once in a great while.  Commonly referred to as the "Danish-modernist" he created simple, functional pieces of furniture that had absolutely no fear of time.  One of those pieces being the iconic Wishbone Chair.  Crafted from solid, steam-bent wood, these chairs have been around since the 1940's, and they're still a favorite go to piece for designers today.  I know I'm obsessed!

They're the perfect compliment to this rustic home office.
What could possibly be better than two iconic chairs paired together?  Not much.  Eames & Wegner together = perfection!

I love the contrast of these chairs against the mosaic checkerboard flooring.

This modern, yet warm and welcoming dining room provides the perfect canvas for these chairs to shine.

When I first came across this charming little girls room,  I instantly fell in love with the green wishbone desk chair.  Fun, and playful, it's the perfect addition to balance out the antique woods.

There is beauty in simplicity.

Mixing the wishbone chairs with more traditional and antique pieces in this living room gives the space a real collected feel.

Love the mixed woods in this dining room, and the contrast of the black wishbone chairs against the white walls.

If you're lucky enough to find an original Hans Wegner wishbone chair, you'll also find a hefty price tag to go with it.
This one from Room & Board will set you back a good $849 a chair.

Baxton Studio has a really great reproduction line.  This little green wishbone chair is $199.  Now that is a huge cost savings!

This one in natural is priced at only $189.

You can also find them in a wide range of colors and finishes.  I think these may be coming home with me in the not too distant future.

So, how about you?  Are you wishing for a wishbone chair too?

  2. Always liked the wishbone chairs. I would easily lean towards the black version, but the green wishbone chair is fun & refreshing. And thanks for the sources. These are great!
